Cult football shop to pop up in Newport.
FOOTBALL fans are in for a treat in Newport at the end of this month when retailer Spirit of 58 opens a pop-up shop in the city centre.
Spirit of 58 (inspired by the 1958 World Cup which was, until last year, the only time Wales had appeared in the finals of a major tournament) specialises in Welsh football shirts, merchandise and memorabilia.
An online retailer, it also makes regular appearances across Wales in pop-up shops.
Spirit of 58 will have a pop-up shop in the Kingsway Centre in Newport on Friday, April 28, and Saturday, April 29. It will be open from 1pm to 4pm on the Friday, and 10am to 4pm on the Saturday.
Organised by Newport Now, the city centre’s Business Improvement District, the pop-up shop marks the first visit of Spirit of 58 to the Newport area.
Tim Williams, from Spirit of 58, said: “Support for Spirit of 58 has grown over the last six years in Newport and Gwent.
“So now is the perfect time for the pop-up shop. Hopefully we will see plenty of new and old faces over the two days. It will be great to be based in Newport city centre.”
Newport Now manager Kevin Ward said: “The city was a hotbed of support for Wales during last year’s Euros and we are sure there will be plenty of Wales fans who will be pleased to see Spirit of 58 in Newport. We’d like to thank the Kingsway Centre for providing the shop unit.”
